April 2022 Monthly Newsletter
President's Report

Another ASPE Chapter year is coming to an end. Spring is supposedly here.
Time to get out and enjoy the weather. When it is not snowing or raining.
The Pittsburgh and Johnstown Chapters are working together to host the
ASPE Region 2 President's meeting in June 3 4, 2022. We would
appreciate any help that you can offer.
With the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers will have to find a
way to create a good offense. Running the ball behind a strong line always
works. Not sure what chances the Pirates have for success. The season
opener did not look too good for them. We can only hope for a decent
season. The Penguins look promising. Maybe they can work their way
through the playoffs and win another Stanley Cup. Trout season is in.
Spring Turkey hunting is coming as well. And for the lucky mushroom
picker, the morels should soon be out.
There was a combined ASHRAE/ASPE meeting in March with ASHRAE
hosting. I did not make the meeting as I was at plant tour in Nashville for
Lochinvar. Anyone getting the opportunity to tour their plant would
definitely be impressed with their operation. Thanks to Doug Raabe for
the opportunity to go.
Next month we will have the final meeting for this ASPE cycle. As usual,
we will have the Italian Feast at Rizzo's. Hope to see you all there!
Thanks,
Mike Spinelli, CPD
VP Technical Report

These past few weeks it seems that our friend Punxy Phil played a GREAT April Fool’s day joke on us with the weather. Here in Johnstown we went from one day being 66 degrees out to 12 hours later there being almost an inch of snow on the ground….thanks a lot Phil! Looking at the future forecast it is looking promising though, so make sure you are able to take some time for you and your families and get out and get some fishing, hiking, riding, or any other outdoor activities in!
Last month we had a combined meeting with the Johnstown chapter down at the Boulevard Grille where Kirk Phipps did a great job of explaining why balancing is important and the different methods and benefits of each of these methods of balancing. He balanced the presentation between both ASPE and ASHRAE members and was very informative Thank you Kirk!
This month’s meeting will be the second to last meeting for this cycle of the meetings and will be held at Rizzio’s. The presenter will be Aaron Markward from ThermOmega Tech and will be presenting on Domestic Hot Water Recirculation. Aaron graduated from Temple University’s Fox School of Business with a B.A. in business Administration in 2017. Currently Aaron is the National Sales Manager for ThermOmega Tech.
